The amount of Muslim women who are
illiterate is significantly higher for rural north India than for the whole
country - — more than 85 per cent of woman are reported themselves to be
illiterate. 17 percent of Muslim women leave the schooling without completed
the class eight and fewer than 10 percent complete the H.S makes a mark as it
is below the national average.
As per the 1991 Census, there were around
48 million Muslim women in India; in 2001 the total number rose to 62.5
million. The miserable truth is that like women from other communities, Muslim
women too are differentiate for the class and caste and also in society, and
geographically. Though there are huge differences in their fate , in contrast
to their opponent woman of other community in India the Muslim women are facing
most obstacles they are least literate.
If we want to make a healthy society Muslim
women should get the same right as a man that grants in Indian constitution-
because after the six decades of our independence below 50% Muslim women are
literate.
Historically, while there has always
existed a gap between the education of boys and girls in India in the Muslim
education system. Educating the girls has always demanded higher asset in terms
of more conveniences and more women teachers as well as separate schools for
them, transporting system and scholarships to provide the much-awaited
incentives.
The link between poverty and illiteracy
among Muslim women cannot be ignored; in spite of illiteracy is a outcome of
poverty or vice versa. Muslim women need nowadays today is some form of
awareness that empowers them to encourage the women society for better their
lot.
Now days there are some initiatives have
been taking in the some parts of West Bengal. As a result large number of minority mission in west Bengal like Rahmat-e-alamMission- who have been taking the oath to narrow the margin between the woman
and man for a better Islamic society. There are several mission in north 24parganas who provides residential
education for woman in Islamic manner.
